Ellen June Hamilton

Ellen June Hamilton passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9,
2021, just 4 months shy of celebrating her 100th birthday.
A private burial took place Monday, Feb. 22. A Memorial
Service will be held, Saturday, Feb. 27, in the Chapel
of First Presbyterian Church, Wichita Falls, Tx., Dr. Ike
Butterworth offi ciating.
This very elegant lady was born June 17, 1921 in
Electra, Tx.,to James Elijah Warden and Hannah Proud
Warden. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband
of 67 years, James Reece Hamilton; sister Lettye Phyllis
Clark and great nephew James (Jimmy) Wm. Mathis.
Ellen June graduated from Electra High School, and
attended John Tarlton College, Stephenville. She married
her High School Sweetheart, J. R. (“Ham”) Hamilton on
April 21, 1942, and moved to Vernon, Tx., building their
career in the offi ce supply business. They owned and
operated Hamilton Offi ce Supply until retirement. After
“Ham’s” death in 2009, “Ejie” moved to Presbyterian
Manor in Wichita Falls, to be nearer family. As the disease
of Dementia progressed, she changed her address to House of Hope until her death.
Ejie was very much the Martha Stewart hostess, list maker, organizer, and authority
on Amy Vanderbilt manners. She loved to laugh, entertain, play bridge, and have family
gatherings with her nieces and nephews. She and Ham enjoyed lots of fun trips with their
Gin Rummy buddies in Vernon.
Survivors include nieces Carol June Clark Adams (Earston), and Letty Jan Poore of
Wichita Falls; Margaret Ann Spencer (Mark Bedgood) of Corsicana, Tx.; nephew James H.
Spencer of Houston; great nieces and nephews, Amanda Poore, Banning Poore, Devyn and
J. B. Poore, all of Wichita Falls; Chris Toliver, Clark Toliver (Nicole), Macy Toliver, and
Jacob Mathis, all of Austin; Keith Spencer (Kris), Ryan, Jenna, and Sara of Flower Mound,
Tx.; Cheryl Dent (Michael), Amber and Jonathan of Sealy, Tx., Gretchen Lutz (Nick), Haley
and Hayden; Christy Argo (Derek) and Jake; also great-great-niece Natalie Rene Toliver of
Austin, and very good friend Louise Shatley, Wichita Falls.
Memorial donations may be made in Ellen June (“Ejie’s”) name to Presbyterian Manor
Good Samaritan Fund, House of Hope, or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
