Florine Ruth Freeland, 96, of Wichita Falls passed
away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb.
26, 2021 in the Chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral
Home in Wichita Falls with Mr. Roger Deerinwater
officiating. A family graveside service will be held at a
later date.
Florine was born on Aug. 13, 1924 in Copperas Cove
to the late Daniel Edmond and Esta Mary Ann (Behrens)
Urbantke. She married Nelson E. Freeland on July 25,
1945 in San Angelo. Florine was proud to be married to
a career military man, and was very patriotic. She
enjoyed traveling with her husband, and enjoyed
watching birds. Florine worked as “Rosie the Riveter”
during World War II, and later as an LVN. She most
enjoyed being a stay at home mother to her children
while Nelson served his country. Florine enjoyed music
and playing piano.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband
Nelson in 2005; sister Lucille Minica, and brother O.D.
Urbantke.
Florine is survived by daughter Betty June Allison and husband Gil; son Don Freeland
and wife Donna; grandchildren Laura Bristo and husband Jeff of Wichita Falls, Karen
Spencer and husband Jason of Wichita Falls, and Christopher Allison and wife Julia of
Lynchburg, Virginia; seven great-grandchildren; and brother James D. Urbantke.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Florine’s name to Hospice of Wichita
Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
