VISD trustees discussing school bids, staff contracts
The Vernon Independent School Board of Trustees will hold their March meeting on Thursday, March 10 instead of the normal Monday meeting date.
A public meeting will be held at 6:00 pm in the boardroom at the Vernon ISD Administration Bldg. The Vernon ISD District of Innovation Plan will be presented. Discussion and questions will coincide with a PowerPoint presentation. The Vernon ISD community is invited.
The board meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the trustees are expected to go immediately into closed session to receive financial information from Alamosa Solar West. The company is proposing to build a solar power generating farm and is expected to negotiate for an economic development incentive from the district with payments in lieu of taxes.
The trustees have a second closed session planned to discuss and potentially approve the superintendent’s recommendations of administrator contracts, term contracts, and probationary contracts for the 2022-2023 school year.
The board will also consider items related to the construction of the school and the bond. They will consider a Gallegher Construction invoice of $196,000 for issuing of stamped and sealed contract documents for bid.
Consideration for approval of sealed proposals for the new school and HS additions and renovation, bid package 1 regarding structural steel and roofing will be considered.
The trustees will consider purchasing a new school bus from Rush Truck Centers for the amount of $120,170. The Athletic Improvement Plan has a $95,660 amount from RFS Sports for consideration.
