Lady Lions volleyball preps for new season with midnight madness
The start of the 2022 high school volleyball season and Vernon Lady Lions head coach Amber Hall is excited for her second season at the helm.
The Lady Lions will be dropping down a class to 3A and will pick up a new slate of district foes to go with longtime rival Iowa Park.
Vernon returns 2nd team all-district standout Kenadi Brown, and honorable mention players Ashlee Villareal, Key’Maria McBride, and Mari Johnson.
Here are some key dates to remember:
The first practice per UIL rules is Auguits 1. Vernon is going to take advantage of that Coach Hall said. The Lady Lions will kick off the season with a Midnight Madness beginning on Sunday, July 31. There will be a Parent Meeting at 5:00 p.m.
Athlete Check-in at 10 pm. Athletes are asked to please have all paperwork and physicals turned in. Bring a blowup mattress, pillow, cover, shower shoes, towels, and sleep/change of clothes.
Then on Monday, August 1 at 12 a.m., Midnight Madness begins. Coach Hall said the team will workout from 12 to 2: a.m.
“We will have breakfast for the players. We will continue the workout at 9 a.m. to 12: pm.
The team will practice Tuesday, August 2 from 8: to10 a.m. Take a break and then practice from 10:30- 12:30 p.m. The team will pend 1 to 3 decorating the gym.
After practices Wednesday and Thursday, on Friday, August 5 the team will scrimmage at Childress with Borger and Childress.
Vernon will host a scrimmage on Saturday, August 6 hosting Northside and Quanah.
The Lady Lions open the season Monday, August 9 hosting Christ Academy.
