Dr Amechi-Obigwe celebrates 10 years at Vernon Clinic

Dr Adana Juliet Amechi-Obigwe is celebrating her 10th anniversary at the Vernon Clinic, located at 1015 Hillcrest Drive here in Vernon. A special reception is planned for Tuesday, August 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Dr. Amechi-Obigwe was born and raised in the Country of Nigeria. She Graduated from the University of Nigeria Faculty of Medicine in 1994.
I caught up with the busy Doctor at her practice in Hillcrest Clinic and asked her about her life and time there.
Dr Amechi told me that her becoming a doctor was a dream of her father who is a Banker in Nigeria. At the age of 17 she chose to follow her father’s dream and entered Medical School in her home Country of Nigeria. She graduated medical school at 24 and then practiced medicine in Nigeria for the next three years.
She then came to America and had to recertify all over again to practice medicine here. After more training in New York the doctor took up practice in a small town in Minnesota.
A delegation from the Wilbarger General Hospital brought her to Vernon in 2012 and after serving at the Hospital for a time she decided to make Vernon her home. Dr Amechi- Obigwe has been in family practice at the Hillcrest Clinic ever since and is now celebrating her 10th anniversary there.
After talking to the doctor for a time one thing became abundantly clear. She has developed a love and attachment to the people she treats in her clinic and for the residents of Wilbarger County as a whole. Dr Amechi-Obigew’s Philosophy for her practice of medicine became equally clear, “Do what is right.” I believe that the doctor will continue doing what is right here in Vernon for a very long time to come.
