Trio of Lions named among state’s best at tennis
The THSCA announced the 2022 4A-6A THSCA Team Tennis Super Elite Teams on Thursday, with 3 of the 14 players on the 4A team coming from Vernon. The THSCA Super Elite Teams consists of high school players nominated by current professional members of the THSCA. The award recognizes student athletes across the state of Texas for their exemplary athletic achievement in the 2022-23 UIL Team Tennis season.
“THSCA is very passionate about the celebration of our athletes. Creating the Super Elite Team is a great way to highlight the elite athletes across Texas,” said Joe Martin, the Executive Director of the THSCA. “We’re excited to celebrate and honor almost 1,800 student athletes across 23 different sports in Texas for their athletic accomplishments during the 2022-23 school year.”
Nominations are reviewed and chosen by the THSCA sport specific advisory committee and Super Elite Team (S.E.T.) Committee. The S.E.T. Committee is made up of 808 coaches in 8 regions throughout Texas. The S.E.T Committee for each respective sport evaluates nominations and sends ranked results to the advisory committee representative of that region and chairman of the advisory committee of each sport.
