Billie Jo Talbot

Billie Jo Talbot, 88 of Vernon, Tx., passed away on
Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in Vernon, Tx.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 13,
2023 at 10 a.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. Toby Castleberry o􀵶 ciating. Burial will be
at 2 p.m. at Newman Cemetery in Fisher County, Tx.
under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Billie Jo Talbot was born to John and Mary Forbes
on Dec. 10, 1934 in Peeltown, Tx. Her siblings were
Eugene, Barbara, William Jr., Jimmy and Geneva
Forbes. She graduated Sweetwater High School
in 1952 while living in the small community of
Longworth, Tx.
On June 30, 1953 she married Glen Olen Talbot in
Longworth, Tx. She then received her cosmetology
license and worked as a beauty operator in
Sweetwater, Tx. During this time, she gave birth to two sons, Billy Glen Talbot
in 1955 and Tracy Lee Talbot in 1958. In 1964 Glen, who worked for Texaco, was
transferred to Graham, Tx. Billie and Glen started their 􀂿 rst shoe store in Graham
in 1965 with Billie taking care of the daily operations. The following year stores
were put in at Iowa Park and Vernon, Tx. The family moved to Vernon in 1967
and Billie operated the operations at the Vernon store. Through the years she and
Glen owned and operated 10 shoe stores across north and West Texas. Years later
the last Talbot Shoe company store was closed and Billie retired in 2011. Billie
and her family joined Calvary Baptist Church in 1968 and she remained a devoted
member until her demise.
She is survived by a sister Geneva and Mike Ward of Amarillo, brother Jimmy
and Pat Forbes of Baird. son Billy and Carolyn Talbot of Vernon, Tracy and Cathy
of Graham Tx. , 􀂿 ve grandchildren, ten great -grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sullivan
Funeral Home.

    I worked at the Vernon shoe store for Billie and Glen. Billie was a beautiful person and she took me to church with her. During that time Billie was by my side when I was baptized. She was a very positive roll model in my life. I’m so sorry for your loss but I have no doubt she is with God.
