Jack Winston Hunter

Jack Winston Hunter, 79 of Vernon, Texas
passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, in
Vernon, Texas.
Graveside services were held Wednesday,
March 15, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Quanah Memorial
Park in Quanah, Texas, under the direction
of Sullivan Funeral Home with Rev. Toby
Castleberry o􀉤 ciating.
Jack was born Thursday, Dec. 2, 1943 in
Quanah, Texas. He was the son of the late Jack
Hunter and the late Mary Winston Hunter.
He married Janet Garner on Aug. 29, 1964, in
Quanah, Texas. Jack graduated from Tarleton
State University, West Texas State University,
Texas Tech University and Midwestern State
University. He received his Bachelors of Science
in agriculture and his teaching certi􀂿 cates in agriculture and biology. Jack
taught Aviation Science and Physical Science for Vernon ISD for 30 years.
After retirement he continued to operate the family farm in Hardeman
County. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Jack is survived by his wife, Janet Hunter of the home; one son, Ty
Hunter of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one daughter, Kimberly Fleming of
Pilot Point, Texas; four grandchildren, Maegan Alexander and husband
Colton of Pilot Point, Texas, Savanna Hunter of Haslet, Texas, Caden
Hunter and Tripp Hunter, both of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one greatgrandchild,
Avarie Ruth.
Jack is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steven Fleming on Nov. 1,
2013.
