Carl Odell ‘Odie’ Roe

Carl Odell “Odie” Roe, 83 of Quanah, Texas passed away on
Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in Quanah, Texas.
Funeral services was held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 29, 2026, at
the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Toby Castleberry
officiating. Burial followed at the Quanah Memorial Park,
Quanah Texas, under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Odie was born Saturday, September 12, 1942 in the Goodlett
Community to the late Harm Roe and the late Thelma Leonard
Roe. Odell was in the United States Army from December 1967
to December 1969. He was a member of the 1st Infantry
Division (“The Big Red One”) main base camp in the III Corps
Tactical Zone of South Vietnam was located at Lai Khe, near
Saigon. Odell was the field bread maker. Odell retired from Georgia Pacific in 2014,
after being with the company forty-three years, ten months and eighteen days. Before
working for Georgia Pacific, Odell worked at Preston Grocery Store for eight and a half
years. Odell was a lifetime member of the VFW, and he was also a member of the Santa
Rosa Palomino Club, serving as the President in 2005 and being named the Outstanding
member in 2002. Odell was a member of the First Methodist Church in Quanah, Texas
and a former member of the First Methodist Church of Acme.
Odie leaves behind a host of family and friends, starting with his donkey, Romeo, his
children Haven Roe and wife Caitlin of Vernon, Texas, Melissa (Gracie) Conner and
husband Cody of Vernon, Texas. Jamie (Jamer) Pring and husband Josh of the
Waggoner Ranch, Tyler Boatman of Vernon, Texas Skyler (Sissy) Boatman and Brady
Parum of Vernon, Texas, Velinda Carabajal of Dallas, Texas Jerry Piercy of Enid,
Oklahoma, Carl Roe and wife Domica of Guymon, Oklahoma and Johnny Roe of
Dallas, Texas. Along with his grandchildren, Cirstin, Carleigh, Colesyn, Jordan and wife
Annie, Trevin and wife Jada, Shad and wife Amanda, Lansten, Coye, Kieren, Madi,
Wyatt Odell, Jody, Timothy, Collin, Chase, Jordan, and TJ. Great Grandchildren,
Westley, Tinleigh, Kooper, Gavin, Addilyn, Kross, Olivia and one due in October Lyla
Grace. Along with numerous nieces and nephews, and friends.
Odell is preceded in death by his parents Harm Roe and Thelma Leonard Roe, and
two brothers Franklin D and CJ.
A special Thank You to RN Natalie Hamrick from Angels Care Home Health for all
she did, she was amazing (even if she had to call in help to feed Romeo) “The Donkey”.
Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Smith Funeral
Home in Quanah, Texas, and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Sullivan
Funeral Home, Vernon, Texas.
Memorials can be made to the Santa Rosa Palomino Club.
Family will be at 2907 Stephens St., Vernon, Texas.
