Pat Duckworth McCarty
Pat Duckworth McCarty was born to Hershel and Mazelle
McCarty in Vernon, Texas on April 23, 1943. He was called
to heaven by our Lord and Savior on Sept. 16, 2026 at the
age of 83 at his home in Mission, Texas.
Pat liked to say that he was “just Pat” because his parents
didn’t want him and his sister to be saddled with long names.
His early schooling was in Vernon which was home to the
headquarters of the Waggoner Ranch and its famous horse
Poco Bueno.
After graduating from Vernon High School, Pat attended
Texas Christian University for two years where he was
a member of Phi Kappa Sigma. He transferred to the
University of Texas in Austin where he ¿ nished his accounting degree and ful¿ lled
the requirements for his CPA license.
After his military service, Pat worked in banking in Houston, Texas into the 1980s
before he transferred to CPA ¿ rms inclusive of Deloitte where he worked on large
projects throughout the United States. In the late 1990s after spending two years on a
project in Utah, he moved to Mission, Texas in 2000 and became a partner at Moore,
Lyles, McCarty, & McGilvray until his retirement in 2026.
Pat is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda B. McCarty; his children, Stephen
Patrick McCarty (Brandi McCarty) and Megan McCarty, and their mother, Bonnie
Berube; his stepchildren, Richard D Barrera, C Javier Barrera (Scandia Barrera),
Hector O Barrera, and Laura B Lukin (Mark Lukin); and his sister, Ann McCarty.
Grandchildren include Suri McCarty, Saige McCarty, Alysia A Barrera, Zachary
Barrera, Danielle Lukin, Gabrielle Lukin, and Camille Lukin. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Hershel and Mazelle McCarty.
