UPDATE: Mass Casualty Wreck

DPS Sgt. Juan Gutierrez issued the following release at approximately 1:51 p.m., March 17:

Preliminary investigation revealed that Vehicle 1 was traveling southwest on US 70. Vehicle 2 was traveling southeast on US 70 in the left lane, passing Vehicle 3 in the right lane. It was raining, and the roads were wet. Vehicle 1 failed to drive in a single lane and lost control on the curved section of the road. Vehicle 1 went over the cable barrier and through the grassy median. Vehicle 1 entered the opposite lane of travel and struck Vehicle 2 head-on. Vehicle 3 attempted to take evasive action but was unable to avoid the crash, and Vehicle 3 struck Vehicle 2.
