Wilma Lois Stowe
Wilma Lois Stowe, 100 of Vernon, Texas passed away
on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, in Vernon, Texas.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m., Wednesday,
Oct. 30, 2024, at Eastview Cemetery under the direction
of Sullivan Funeral Home with Rev. Toby Castleberry
o ciating.
Wilma was born Thursday, July 10, 1924, in Wilbarger
County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Willie
Lamar Smith and the late Bessie Lee Allen Smith. She
married Guinn Rogers Stowe in 1940, and they were
married for fty four years. In high school she was a
cheerleader and played volleyball. She was a lifetime
resident of Wilbarger County and enjoyed ve generations
of family. In 2017, she received the Woman of the Year Award at the Doan’s May
Picnic. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Wilma is survived by her son, Dr. Grady K. Stowe of Vernon, Texas, and four
grandchildren, Michelle Spencer, Glenda Higgins, Stephanie Stowe Stanley, and
Amber Garvin Jones. Wilma also leaves behind numerous great grandchildren and
great-great grandchildren.
Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Guinn Rogers Stowe; two
daughters, Deanna Cupp and Pamela Garvin; one brother, Loren Smith; three
sisters, Rachel Stringer, Helen Gipson and Louise Townson; two grandsons,
Richard Wayne Clifton and Grady Douglas Stowe and one great grandson Grady
Patrick Stanley.
Visitation was held from 3 p.m. until graveside services begin, Wednesday, Oct.
30, 2024, at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or Wilbarger County
Humane Society.
