Friday deadline set for Vernon veterans tribute

Vernon Middle School is asking residents to submit photographs and information about military veterans by Friday, Nov. 6, for a Veterans Day tribute recognizing people with ties to local families and the community.

The school is preparing a slideshow honoring those who have served in the U.S. military, according to a Vernon ISD announcement. Residents may submit information about a family member or another veteran they know.

Along with a photograph and information about the veteran, submissions may include special memories or accomplishments residents would like to share.

The district also invites community members to attend its Veterans Day assembly at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in Fulton Gym at Vernon High School, 2102 Yucca Lane.

Although Vernon Middle School is gathering information for the tribute, the assembly will take place at the high school.

Residents can submit material through the district’s Veterans Recognition Form, which is also linked in the Veterans Day announcement on the Vernon ISD website.
