Jim Early Chumley
Jim Earl Chumley, 61 of Vernon, died on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, in Vernon. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Garry Worden. Interment will be held at Altus Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Chumley was born Monday, July 14, 1952 in Altus, Okla. He was the son of the late Clyde Chumley and the late Mildred Marie Hamersley Chumley. He was a graduate of Altus High School in 1972. He served in the US Air Force from 1973-1977, serving in Vietnam. He was a utility operator for Rhodia for 33 years, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed hunting, fishing spending time with his family, enjoyed playing guitar he played in a band in his younger days. He was a former member of Hedrick Church of Christ.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenny Chumley of Vernon; his son, Jimmy Chumley of Houston; one grandson; one brother, Phil Chumley of Tuttle, Okla.; two sisters, Connie Gotowala of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Brenda Mehr of Chandler, Ariz., one nephew, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Janet Jones.
