Vernon raises awareness of domestic violence
October is national domestic violence awareness month and a slate of activities are scheduled throughout the month in Vernon.
Vernon Mayor Doug Jeffrey, IV, kicked off the events by signing a proclamation recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the City of Vernon on Tuesday. The proclamation recognizes that “…the crime of domestic violence violates an individual’s privacy and dignity, security and humanity…”, and that “…the impact of domestic violence is wide ranging, directly affecting individuals and society as a whole, throughout the United States, and here in the City of Vernon.” The mayor urged citizens to actively participate in the activities that are scheduled throughout the month.
