Matute, Patterson named top students at Harrold

Harrold High School has named Alexis Matute as valedictorian and Gabryana Patterson as salutatorian of the 2019 graduating class.
Commencement exercises for the six-member graduating class will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 24 in the school gym.
Matute, daughter of Grace and Roberto Sanchez, was named valedictorian on a grade point average of 94. She played volleyball, basketball, track, tennis and cross country, and also participated in UIL academics, band and a member of the yearbook staff. Matute was named to Second Team All-District in volleyball and basketball. She also was named to Who’s Who in Athletics and won awards for advanced journalism, physics, Computer Science II, Ag III, geometry, and communication applications.
Patterson, daughter of Sheree Morris and Drew McWilliams, was named salutatorian on a 91.7 GPA. She played volleyball, basketball and track and also participated in UIL academics, band and yearbook staff. She also was named to Who’s Who in Advanced Journalism and the recipient of the Fighting Hornet Award and named to First Team All-District in volleyball and track, and Second Team All-District in basketball.
Following graduation, Patterson plans to join the U.S. Navy.
