City fireworks show planned
The City of Vernon is sponsoring a Independence Day themed event with the Red River Rhythm set for Saturday July 6.
It will be held at the Santa Rosa Arena and takes the place of the city’s annual fireworks show, traditionally held at Lion Memorial Stadium.
“We will have food trucks, drinks, bounce houses, a mechanical bull, dunking booth, barrel train, Little Eden’s Farm petting zoo, volleyball, horse shoes, corn hole, recognize our veterans, Battle of the Bands competition and Fireworks. The Battle of the Bands grand prize is $1,500, 2nd prize $400 and 3rd prize $100. Bands and For profit vendors have a $100 registration fee. It is free to attend the event,” Amanda Lehman, Vernon Tourism Director, said.
The start time is 4:00 p.m.
“We have five bands performing. Fireworks will start at dark. The winning band will perform for 30 minutes after the fireworks show,” Lehman added.
Alcohol will be available to purchase on site, but cannot be brought into the arena grounds from outside. Outside fireworks will not allowed.
There will be open seating in the grandstands, or bring a chair for arena seating.
