No need to panic, plan in place for coronavirus

The possibility that the Coronavirus outbreak will affect Wilbarger County was center stage Friday as Wilbarger General Hospital held an informational seminar and  cooperative planning session that included hospital staff, representatives from city and county government, Vernon ISD and Vernon College as well as representatives of area nursing homes and pharmacies.

The consensus was that steps had been put in place to deal with the potential outbreak locally (see related stories and the online edition), but the community’s cooperation was needed — especially from those that might have symptoms.

“We do have a plan in place for this. There isn’t any reason to panic. As long as people will follow the protocols it shouldn’t be a big deal,” Dr. Travis Lehman said.
