Relay for Life planned for Saturday

Wilbarger County Relay for Life honoring and remembering cancer patients and survivors is all set to be held Saturday, Aug. from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Christian Life Center.

The event will begin with singing of the National Anthem followed by the Survivor Lap, the Caregiver Lap and the Team Lap.

The guest speaker this year will be Kim Hunter of Wichita Falls, a cancer survivor. Hunter will give her presentation at 2:30 p.m.

A silent auction will start at the open ceremony and will end at 6:30 p.m. The popular live cake auction will be held at 5 p.m.

Throughout the event there will be activities and games in which the entire family can participate, and food trucks will be set up outside. There will also be food available inside the building.

Another event for the children will be the barrel train that youngsters can ride for $3,

The Luminary Ceremony will be start at 9 a.m., after which the Silent Lap will be held.

The day will also include a variety of vendors with all kinds of jewelry, baked goods, homemade crosses, paparazzi and car air freshener. There will also be bake sales, crocheted items, homemade wreaths, homemade pot holders, Scentsy,  color nail strips,  Herbalife, Bath & Body Works and oils as well as crochet items.

Anyone would like to be a vendor can contact Relay chairman Marilyn Ramirez at 940-886-6006. The vendor fee is $10.

The Relay for Life event is open to the public.
