Building permits: Solar panels popular in 2020

The City of Vernon issued 12 construction permits in December – a total of 161 permits were issued during 2020.

Two of Decembers permits were for the installation of new solar panels, one at a business and the other at a residence. Family Pharmacy, 1720 Hillcrest, was the business. William Teague received the permit for his residence at 4600 Cottonwood. Davis Electric is the contractor for both projects.

Solar panels were popular in Vernon during 2020 — with 8 permits for solar projects approved during the year. There had only been one permit in Vernon for solar in 2019.

Other December permits included Terry White receiving a permit for an addition to a house at 1517 Dawson. White is listed as the owner and contractor. A permit for the demolition of a building was given to James Freeman for a building at 1230 Marshall.

Permits for new fences were given to Michelle Ochoa for 1304 Pease, Miguel Torres for 4800 Yamparika, and Chantry Rayl for 4601 Kennedy. Ochoa and Torres were self-contracting, while John Wright was the contractor at 4601 Kennedy.

Five permits were issued for new HVAC. Those included Caylor Properties, 2616 15th; Carol Clifton, 1901 Loma Linda; Joyce Inglish, 3904 Marshall; Mike Bauman, 4501 Yamparika; and Tandy Whitehead, 2607 Twin Oaks. Fancher Electric was the contractor for four of the heating/air conditioning systems. Huber H&A was the contractor at 2616 15th.
