Guadalupe Hererra, Sr, 74, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on Jan. 24, 2021 in Abilene.Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, Texas.Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2021 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with David Cranfi ll, offi ciating. Burial will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.Lupe was born in Vernon, Texas on Nov. 7, 1946. He graduated from Lockett High School. He married Olga Lonzano on May 22, 1971 in Crowell, Texas. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. He worked as a welder for WF Statser in Crowell, for numerous years and for the city of Crowell. He was a veteran of Vietnam War and served in the United States Marine Corps and was awarded National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and Rifl e Expert Badge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crowell.Lupe is preceded in death by his stepfather Felipe Ranjel, his mother, Antonia Ranjel and a brother Chavelo Ranjel. Lupe is survived by his wife, Olga Hererra of Abilene; his children, Guadalupe Hererra, Jr. and wife, Tiffni of Abilene, Pete Hererra of Abilene, Sue Ann Hererra of Abilene, and Kathy Finley and husband Michael of Springfi eld, Missouri; a sister, Alberta Hernandez of Crowell, a sister Loy Martinez of Gainesville, Texas, a brother, Cirilo Ranjel of Mangum Oklahoma, a sister, Rosa Alaniz of Vernon, Texas, a sister, Toni Williams of Vernon, and a sister, Sue Swearingen of Crowell; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Pallbearers will be grandsons, Hunter Hererra, Eric Hererra, Michael Finley, Christian Finley, Mark Hererra, Lane Bourland and two honorary pallbearers, Sean Finley and Brennan Finley.The family of Lupe Hererra wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Kyle, Nikita, Tiffany, and Carrie at the Hendrick Medical Center South for their wonderful care of our family member.In lieu of fl owers, the family suggest memorial be made to the Special Olympics.Memories may be shared and condolences submitted online at www.HamilFamilyFuneralHome.comGuadalupe
