VISD trustees to debate mask requirement again
The Vernon ISD trustees will again take up the matter of whether to mandate students, visitors and staff wear masks at VISD facilities. Action on the matter is part of the Vernon ISD board of trustees meeting set for Wednesday, April 21 at the Administration Building, 1713 Wilbarger, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
In their March 8 meeting, the trustees, on a motion from Chris Lehman, agreed to easing Covid restrictions but keeping the mask mandate until the April 21 VISD trustee meeting at which time they said they would revisit the issue and determine whether to remove the mask requirement or keep it until the end of the school year.
Other action scheduled for Wednesday’s meeting includes amending the 2021-22 school calendar, taking action n VISD cameras, consider budget amendments, purchase devise case for chromebooks, consider paying a longevity stipend at 5 year increments out of fund balance.
A personnel closed session is scheduled. After the session the board will consider approving a recommendation from the superintendent to send notice of proposed non renewal of a term contract employee at the end of the 2020-21 school year.
Recognition will be made students, teachers and staff for recent achievements.
