Man indicted in burglary, shooting livestock

The man accused of a breaking into a home, stealing a gun and shooting livestock this past summer has been indicted by the Wilbarger County Grand Jury.
Trenton Ray Wilson was indicted for the Felony-2 offense of Burglary of a Habitation; Felony-3 offense of Criminal Mischief with a Firearm (Death of Livestock); and State Jail Felony offense of Theft of a Firearm.
On July 22, 2021 Wilson allegedly broke into a house, stole a shotgun from a property north of Vernon, off of 287 near the rest stop, close to the Pease River. He then went around the 20-acre property shooting the weapon numerous times, according to incident reports.
Wilson is accused of shooting at multiple cattle, dogs, and two horses. The horses were shot multiple times. One horse died at the scene from injuries, and the other was euthanized.
