Newson sentenced in Quanah court case

Steven Craig Newsom,  36, of Quanah, was sentenced to twenty years in prison following his plea of guilty to possession of methamphetamine between four and two hundred grams last Thursday, March 24 in District Court in Hardeman County.

On December 27, 2021, a Hardeman County Deputy observed Newsom operating a motor-vehicle and knew that he had an outstanding warrant for arrest. After making the arrest, the deputy searched Newsom and located a black zip-up container which contained methamphetamine, digital scales, and baggies commonly used to package methamphetamines for sale. The punishment range in Newsom’s case was enhanced because of multiple prior felony convictions. He was represented by Earl Griffin of Childress.
