WGH, Vernon form partnership with AMR to serve community
The City of Vernon, TX, Wilbarger General Hospital and American Medical Response have entered into a temporary agreement to assist Vernon Fire Department with EMS services in Vernon until the VFD can become fully staffed again. The agreement was first reported in the Vernon Record in March 31’s edition.
According to a statement from WGH, when the VFD staff numbers decreased recently, there was question as to how they would continue to meet the EMS needs for the citizens of Vernon and the surrounding area. City, County, and Hospital officials acted swiftly in finding alternative coverage. The resulting agreement with AMR began April 1, leaving no gap in EMS coverage for the community.
“We are so thankful and appreciative of how quickly they responded so we would not go without ambulance service for our citizens.” said Vernon Mayor Pam Gosline. “The City of Vernon is very excited to welcome American Medical Response as a partner with the City of Vernon, Wilbarger General Hospital, and Wilbarger County in providing emergency medical response to the citizens of the City of Vernon and Wilbarger County. The partnership ensures that our citizens will continue to receive the type of medical response that they deserve and need.”
Wilbarger General welcomed AMR to the Wilbarger County Medical Community with a breakfast on Friday, April 1.
“We want to welcome our new team members and show them how much we value them. They are here to provide a needed service to our community and bring a lot of experience and expertise to the table. We are thrilled to welcome them to our Emergency Services team here at Wilbarger General,” said Carol Stiltner, CNO/COO at Wilbarger General Hospital.
