Dangerous fire weather on Monday, thunderstorms later in the week
The Vernon Fire Department is working multiple fires, including one at the metal recycler on US 283. VFD has responded to at least six grass fires today. Dangerous fire weather persists with 91 degrees, 8 percent humidity and sustained winds over 20 mph at 8 p.m.
The fire danger subsides tomorrow, with a new threat — strong thunderstorms on Wednesday.
