Downtown bars, breweries, wineries get City approval
The Vernon City Commission held a public hearing as part of its May 31 regular commission meeting. The hearing was in regards to whether breweries, wineries, distilleries and taverns (bars) should be allowed in the Central Business District.
During the public hearing Charles McArthur and Jason Maldonado, both with the Planning and Zoning Committee, spoke of how they believed this was a good idea.
After the public hearing, the City Commission discussed if any of these establishments would serve both alcohol and food. They were told that it would be up to the owner of each establishment to decide to or not.
The Commission then approved action on Ordinance 1786 amending the zoning ordinance to permit breweries, wineries, distilleries and taverns (bars) in the Central Business District. More from the commission meeting is in the print and digital edition of the VernonRecord.
