Attempted armed robbery reported

At 4:42 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, Vernon Police responded to Cefco, in the 2800 block of U.S. 287, for the report of an attempted armed robbery. An employee of the business was outside when they reported being approached by a subject wanting to sell them jewelry. After the reporting party refused to purchase anything, they were approached by a woman in a dark blue Lexus who was armed with a gun and demanded money. The reporting party refused to hand over any money, at which point the suspect drove away from the scene. The case remains under investigation.
