Beginning Jan. 23 a series of residential, commercial and vehicle burglaries were reported in Vernon. Vernon Police Department detectives began investigating these crimes and were able to develop several leads. Detectives put in some long days and brought several of these cases to a conclusion.
On Feb. 16 Vernon Police arrested Cody Hagerman, 31, of Vernon on charges of burglary to vehicles and burglary to habitations. As of Feb. 22, Hagerman remains in custody at the Wilbarger County Jail with bail set at $1,500 for the burglary of vehicles charge and $50,000 for the burglary of habitations charge.
During the course of the investigation two weapons were recovered, one of which was taken in a burglary, and other items that had been reported stolen.
The investigation is continuing with further arrests expected.
