Santa Rosa Roundup begins Wednesday

The 77th annual Santa Rosa Roundup kicks off on Wednesday, May 17, with a parade through the streets of Vernon, a barbecue dinner and the first night of rodeo action at the Santa Rosa arena.
The parade starts at 4 p.m., with floats, vehicles, bands and riding clubs. Immediately after the parade, the Vernon Lions Club will sponsor a barbecue fundraiser from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the rodeo grounds. Tickets are $15 at the door.
The rodeo will be held nightly Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday beginning each night at 7 p.m., following the Grand Entry.
Thursday will be a special “Pink Out” night for the Cancer Society with those attending asked to wear pink.
Advance tickets to the rodeo may be purchased at the Ticket Office, 1614 Main St. (940) 552-6868. All box seats are $15, general admission is adult (13 and up) $10, child (5-12) $5, 4 and under free.
The Palomino Club will perform precision drills nightly during the rodeo.

Rodeo clown this year will be Doug Munsell, and bull fighters will be Wacey Muncell and Alex Phelps
Charlie Throckmorton will once again be the rodeo announcer.
Local cowboys and cowgirls will get in on the rodeo excitement with Ride the Hide made up of three teams sponsored by local businesses that will compete nightly.
Beutler & Son will again provide the stock for the rodeo, and arena action will include bull riding, broncs, steer wrestling and roping and barrel racing.
Extra events will include Rodeo Assoc. Cowboy Golf Tournament – Hillcrest Country Club, 8 a.m. on Friday only.
Rodeo-goers will also be entertained by a dance on Saturday night as the popular local band, the Already Goners, provide the music. Tickets to the dance Ride The Hide- 3 teams sponsored by local businesses compete nightly are $10 and may be purchased at the door. The dance will be held at the Horse Palace (Rodeo Grounds)
