The DPS news release identified the driver as James Ray Duncan, 58, of Oklaunion.

According to the information provided by DPS, the preliminary investigation indicated that Duncan was driving a 1990 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck south on CR 117 when, “For unknown reasons, the driver of Vehicle 1 drove off the roadway to the left, overcorrected steering right and entered into a side skid.  Vehicle 1 crossed back across the roadway exiting the right side of the roadway driving into the barrow ditch striking an embankment and overturning.  The driver of Vehicle 1 was ejected due to being unrestrained by a seatbelt and died on the scene of the crash.”
