‘Vernon on Ice’ opens

‘Tis the season to be in Vernon. The Vernon on Ice ice rink, presented by Family Health Mart, opened  Thanksgiving night, at 1600 Wilbarger St.
Get ready to glide across the ice on this 1,750 square foot outdoor synthetic ice-skating rink.
Dates of operation, weather permitting, are Thursday, Nov. 23 to Sunday, Jan 7. The rink will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
The rink will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve with the last skate time beginning at 5 p.m.
The rink will not operate during inclement weather. Weather conditions that can affect the operation of the ice rink include:
-Extreme freezing temperatures and high wind, rain or snow
All skating sessions are 45 minutes long with a 15 minute changeover period. Skaters should arrive at least 10 minutes prior to their scheduled time or walk-in 10 minutes prior to the top of the hour.
Session walk-ins will not be available if a session time fills up online.
Prices are for adults are $8 per ticket, and for children 12 and under, $5 per ticket.
Skate rentals are included in the ticket price. Guests are welcome to use their own skates, but there will be no discounted price.

Registration will begin Monday, Nov. 20 at 10 a.m.
Children under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult supervisor. The adult supervisor will only need a ticket if he/she plans to skate or physically help a child skate on the ice. Ice skates are the only footwear allowed on the ice.
Guests who arrive late to their scheduled skate time or leave the ice early will not be compensated for unused skate time. All tickets sales are final.

– Guests cannot transfer their skating time to another skating session time
– Skate rentals are included in the ticket price and provided at the skating location
– Skates are required on ice rink
– Purchasing of a ticket is required for admission to rink for skaters of all ages
– Food and drinks will not be allowed on the ice
– Skating is reserved for the date and hour selected at time of purchase
– All skaters must be ticketed
– Tickets are non-refundable
– A waiver must be completed for each ticketed guest on site.
