NWS: Hot start, rain possible later in week
The National Weather Service is calling for highs in the mid-90s at the beginning of this week in Vernon, and triple digits could be seen on Thursday and Friday.
A 30 Percent chance of rain enters the picture late Friday night and continues into Saturday night. Temperatures are expected to cool down with the chance of rain, with a high of 88 forecast on Sunday.
The NWS forecast discussion states: “Some daily high records may be in jeopardy. But as we get to the weekend, the next longwave trough will eject from the western United States toward the Plains, and is forecast to move farther south than the early week system. This will bring higher rain chances across the area potentially starting Friday night, although the trend in the models is a bit slower with this system so the better chances may be a little later into the weekend.”
